Greg Long overtook all the favorites yesterday to get a win in the Eddie Aikau Invitational. The Surf was 20-25 foot plus (required for the event to even run). The last time the surf was big enough in the 3 month window was 2004 and Bruce Irons came away with his 1st win. To read more and view photos of the event click: Eddieaikau.

Billabong Pipeline Masters Starts Tomorrow...

Anyone interested in viewing the last event of the ASP 2009 world tour can clicke here: PIPEMASTERS.

For the 2009 World Title race there is only two surfers left in contention: Mick Fanning & Joel Parkinson

Mick Fanning is currently leading with 7140 points and Joel Parkinson is in 2nd place with 6772 points.
Between these two, the following are possibilities:

If Mick Fanning finishes up 33rd to 9th, Parko will need a 3rd or better to win the World Title;
If Mick finished 5th then Joel would need a 2nd or better;
If Mick finishes 3rd, then Parko will need to win the Billabong Pipeline Masters;
If Mick was to finish 2nd he will automatically clinch the ASP World Title for the second time in his career even if Parko wins this last event.
