The Garden

WHAT A GREAT IDEA: "sign me up"

St. Augustine Beach Community Garden

Mission Statement: The purpose of the St. Augustine Beach Community Garden (SABCG) is to organize interested St. Augustine Beach residents into a membership-based group that works together to perfom gardening activities and create opportunities for social interaction. Our objective is to produce healthy organic food, to lower our carbon footprint, promote sustainable living and to master the art of gardening through collaborative learning.
The SABCG is currently completing the construction of the garden. We are an official non-profit organization open to the entire community.
There are two membership options available, an Affiliate Membership and a Garden Box Membership. Membership dues will be paid in biannual (2) paments, half due by January 31st and the other half by July 31st of each year.
Affiliate Membership:
  • full access to the garden–”Full access” means:
you are a part of the garden in every way except you don’t have your own personal garden box. Others may share their excess produce with you. No produce would be bought or sold–just gifted or exchanged. You could also help maintain and plant the comunal boxes which will be planted on the periphery of the garden. You would be entitled to share in the produce from the comunal beds, be they herbs, tomatoes, or whatever. If you agree to have a garden “job”, such as making sure debris is on the street for the city pickup, or some other task, you would have no fee. Otherwise, if you prefer to not have an assigned task, the affiliate membership would be $10 a year. Your name would go on the member roster, you would be able to enter the garden at any time, participate in meetings, potlucks, etc. You could help maintain the bed being planted for the Food Pantry. You’d be on the email list and receive announcements and info which is distributed.
Garden Box Memberships:
  • full access to the garden
  • communications and notifications for garden activities
  • an assigned garden plot to cultivate and harvest
  • full use of the tools and garden resources
  • manage or assist with an appointed garden task
  • Membership Dues of $50 per year to cover garden costs
Please send an email to sabcgarden@gmail.com if you are interested in becoming a member. The SABCG is designed for active gardening and active participation by its members.
